Rohaya has a varied academic background. Her first degree is in Architecture. She is a registered architect and has more than ten years of working experience in the building industry. Her interest in the humanities led her to undertake a B.A. in English Literature and an M.A.in Literary Studies. She undertook her second postgraduate degree with the M.A. in Asian Arts Histories at LASALLE in order to fulfil her innate inclination towards understanding the histories which inform the visual arts. Her art history thesis focuses on Collectivism in Art as Strategy. Her research interests revolve around Singapore art, Malaysian art and collaboration in art production. She is currently assisting her former lecturers in the M.A. Asian Art Histories programme on a sourcebook for Singaporean art and is also undertaking her own research on the development of abstract art in Singapore. She is also extending her interest in collaborative art to street and mural art.
