Ramesh is a practicing photographer and photo book creator. He was born and raised in India, reading Chemistry at Loyola College, University of Madras and then Business Administration at XLRI Jamshedpur. He has lived in Hong Kong and Singapore for over two decades, working in senior positions in marketing and research for companies like Procter and Gamble, Philips and Pernod Ricard. In 2009, he decided to formally pursue his passion for photography by embarking on a project to complete 10,000 hours of photographic practice. The Master of Asian Art Histories Programme at LASALLE was part of this effort, during which he focused on Asian photography as his main research area. His research and personal interests combined well in his dissertation on the Photography of Transgender People in Asia and in his research papers on Art and Asian River Cultures. Ramesh also interned at the Indian Heritage Centre, assisting in the compilation and curation of festival and cultural photography. He now plans to do photography-based research residencies around South-East Asia to expand his practice. He is also publishing new photo books that draw on his MA research and his passion to integrate words and images.
