Loredana graduated from the M.A. in Asian Art Histories programme and is currently an independent curator. She also teaches part-time at LASALLE College of The Arts. Loredana works extensively as an independent curator for commercial and institutional spaces in Singapore and Bangkok, promoting the visibility of young and emerging artists from Thailand and Singapore. Her academic and curatorial focus and research revolves mostly around contemporary art in Thailand.
Loredana joined the MA in Asian Art Histories programme to deepen her understanding of Asian contemporary art. Since the beginning of the programme and throughout it, her interest was primarily geared towards Thai contemporary art practice. When she started research in early 2010, Thailand represented a fascinating yet obscure culture she wanted to discover and further understand. In addition, Thai contemporary art was, and to some extent still is, hardly seen on mainstream art platforms – a fact that would have made her research more valuable in terms of new and uncovered grounds to be explored. Loredana’s thesis focused specifically on Thai art education she conducted primary research on the art curriculum of three major universities in Bangkok.
The research work she had done during the programme and her thesis opened multiple doors for her career. This ranged from lecturing and participating at several international symposiums, to writing for art magazines and catalogues, to curating art exhibitions mostly featuring young Thai and Singapore art practitioners. With her curatorial practice and continuing research, she hopes to open up new platforms for emerging artists from Thailand and Singapore and, at the same time, to bring awareness to the wider audience on Thai art and culture.
