John’s investigation of the Nanyang movement, a modern and contemporary art movement in Singapore, sparked his interest in the history of contemporary art in Southeast Asia. This newfound interest complemented his longstanding passion for paintings, which motivated him to enrol in the MA Asian Art Histories programme at LASALLE. John aspires to gain knowledge in order to articulate the connection that exists between art and life.
John’s research is centred on the intricate interplay between globalisation and contemporary Vietnamese art. His long-term objective is to expand upon this research by delving deeper into the realm of contemporary art in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
