Elaine Chiew is a U.S. trained corporate lawyer and fiction writer. She worked for a law firm and investment bank in New York and Hong Kong before switching to fiction writing. She is the editor/compiler of Cooked Up: Food Fiction From Around the World (New Internationalist, 2015). She has won prizes for her short fiction (which include the Bridport International Short Story Prize and Elbow Room Prize) and also been shortlisted/longlisted/nominated in numerous other U.S. and U.K. competitions (including Pushcart, Best of Small Fictions, BBC Opening Lines, Fish International Short Story Prize, Arts Equator Best Essay). In October 2017, she will be the Writer in Residence at School of the Arts, Singapore. Her most recent stories can be found in Potomac Review and Singapore Love Stories (Monsoon Books, 2016).
