Connie’s intention of joining the MA in Asian Art Histories Programme at LASALLE was to gain greater knowledge about Asian art as an art lover. Prior to doing the Programme, her knowledge of art was mainly geared towards Western art through books reading, short courses as well as galleries and museums visits in different parts of the world. The Programme has provided a great platform for learning Asian art through research and discussion, in addition to conversations with various scholars, art collectors, artists, curators, and practitioners. As a result, Connie’s perspective and understanding of Asian art have altered significantly. Connie’s research on various topics and her thesis about the Hong Kong protest arts using Umbrella Movement as a case study have strengthened her knowledge about the art histories of the region, geopolitics, and the art market. Moving forward, Connie aims to work on projects on Asian art histories, perhaps in a non-profit form, and hope to contribute to the regional art scene development.
